Care for your candle—care for your home

Follow these simple tips to enjoy a longer, cleaner, and safer burn every time

Candle Care

Safe Placement

1. Burn on a level, heat-resistant surface.
2. Keep away from drafts, vents, pets, and children.
3. Maintain at least 12 inches of clearance from walls, curtains, shelves, cupboards, or any flammable material above the flame.

Never Leave Unattended

Always extinguish the candle before leaving the room or going to sleep. Never burn a candle unattended. Keep burning candles away from children and pets. Set an alarm to remind you to extinguish your candle if you think you may forget.

The First Burn is Key

On your first use, allow the candle to burn long enough for the entire surface of the wax to melt into a full, even pool that touches the edges of the vessel (this will likely be at least 2 hours). This technique prevents “tunneling” and ensures even burning in future uses.

Trim the Wick

Before each lighting, trim the wick to ¼ inch (6 mm). This helps control flame size, reduces soot, and promotes a clean, steady burn. Because our wicks are 100% cotton, you will be able to simply pinch the wick to the proper height, or feel free to use a wick trimmer.

Burn Time

Limit each burn session to no more than 4 hours. This prevents the jar from overheating and ensures optimal performance.

Keep It Clean

Remove any wick trimmings, debris, dust, or soot buildup from the wax surface before lighting. A clean candle burns better and safer.

Stop Burning When Wax is Low

Discontinue use when ½ inch of wax remains. Burning a candle too low can overheat the glass jar and create a fire hazard.

Cool Completely Before Moving

Let the candle cool and the wax to solidify before touching or relocating. Hot glass can cause burns.

Reuse or Recycle

Once finished, clean out the jar with warm, soapy water. Reuse it for storage or as a planter, or recycle responsibly.

Safety Reminder

Never touch or move a burning candle. Keep out of reach of children and pets. Discontinue use if the jar becomes cracked or damaged.
